The Councilor for Tourism, Silvia Egea, the patron of the fishermen's brotherhood, Jesús Antonio Gómez, and the coordinator of the project "Fish with Art" of the Columbares Association, Carmen Molina Navarro, today presented the prize for the school mural contest " The artisanal fishing in San Pedro del Pinatar ", to the students of the Nuestra Señora del Carmen center of Lo Pagán.
The students of the fifth grade of this school have recreated the Mar Menor in a beautiful mural, with mosaic technique, in which they have included the different species that can be found in the salty lagoon, such as sea bream, sea bass, mullet, seahorse or shrimp.
The work also includes spaces such as the Salinas de San Pedro, with the flamencos and the Quintín Mill;
the Mediterranean Sea or La Manga del Mar Menor.
In addition, they have represented a Latin sailboat, typical of traditional fishing in the area.
The winners of the contest will enjoy an educational itinerary in which, crossing several points of natural, cultural and fishing interest of San Pedro del Pinatar as the fish market, the museum of the sea or the Regional Park of Las Salinas and Arenales de San Pedro;
You can get close to the life of artisanal fishermen and get to know some of the species that inhabit the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean.
"Pescados con Arte" is an initiative of the Columbares Association to inform the public of the social, environmental, cultural and gastronomic value of the artisanal fishing captured on the Murcian coast and promote the consumption of sustainable seafood.
