The Department of Health has drafted a regulation governing odoriferous pollution caused by various industries in the municipality, such as the chemical sector.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, José García, and Health Councillor, María José Albaladejo, reported today that the council is preparing an ordinance to regulate odors emitted by different industries and companies in the municipality.
The mayor explained that health is a pollution control ordinance odorant that can generate certain sectors like the chemical industry, the livestock or the trash.
Thus the new rules odors measured continuously affecting residential areas of the municipality and regulate the industrial activity does not affect the conservation of the environment and the welfare of the citizenry.
For the preparation of the ordinance have been taken as a reference, among others, the "Draft bill odoriferous pollution" of Catalonia, the city ordinance Lliça de Vall (Lleida) and European standards of countries like Germany and Holland.
Albaladejo has indicated that the development of the ordinance, to be presented at its November, participated technicians who have worked with the Department of Health for more than six months.
The mayor has also highlighted the difficulty of developing the municipal law, as there are very few precedents of legislation on environmental pollution caused by odors, both national and regional level.
Thus, stressed that, once approved, will be the first ordinance of the Region of Murcia to regulate and control odor emissions.
In this sense, the mayor, Jose Garcia, considered that the standard may serve as a precedent for other municipalities in the region who have problems similar to those that occur in San Pedro del Pinatar in this area.
Thus, explained that the government team started developing this ordinance as a response to the concerns of a section of the residents of the municipality, to the odor emissions from various industries in the locality, as the asphalt plant, the sewage and coffee roaster.
Garcia explained that in the last three years there have been various studies and controls that has ruled there is air pollution, and stressed that the new ordinance is a step closer to "ensure the health of pinatarenses."
Among other measures, the ordinance provides for the development of diagnostic studies of potentially generating facilities of this type of pollution, to assess the degree of involvement of odor emissions in the environment and prescribe a period to conform to the provisions the new standard.
In addition, the standard will include studies to estimate the impact occurred and periodic inspections and sanctions regime.
