The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Jose Garcia, has signed an agreement today with Secretary of State for Housing, Beatriz Corredor and the Minister of Pubic Works, José Ballesta, for the implementation of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for the area.
Secretary of State for Housing, Beatriz Corredor, the Minister of Public Works, José Ballesta, and the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, José García, today signed an agreement for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the neighborhoods of Los Sáez and the pious women, with an investment of more than 300,000 euros from the three administrations and lead activities during the next two years, 35 houses and urban infrastructure in the area.
The agreement envisages a total investment of 410,257 euros, of which the Ministry of Development will provide 160,702 euros (39.17 percent), the Autonomous Region, 113,036 euros (27.55%); the City 44,200 euros (10.77 %) and individuals must pay the remaining $ 92,317 (22.5 percent).
The plan, which will take place between 2011 and 2012, provides for expenditure of 175,867 euros in the first year, and 234,389 euros in the second.
The largest amount, 342,257 euros, is earmarked for the rehabilitation of buildings and houses, 34,000 euros on infrastructure and urbanization, and other technical equipment 34,000.
The City Council requested the declaration of the area as "Area Comprehensive Rehabilitation" given the progressive degradation of architectural, urban and social found in these neighborhoods.
The work will consist in the recovery of structural elements of buildings, accessibility, adequacy of common elements and habitability of housing, as well as performances in infrastructure and urbanization.
The mayor of San Pedro, praised the signing of this agreement, it will end the deteriorating situation that for years, suffering residents of the neighborhoods of Los Sáez and the pious women, improving their quality of life.
Moreover, Garcia has said that the implementation of this plan will serve to boost employment in the field of construction, a sector hard hit by the economic crisis in the municipality.
This agreement has been signed in the framework of the Bilateral Commission pursuant to the Plan of National Housing and Rehabilitation 2009-2012, held today in Murcia, and which have signed 20 agreements with 17 municipalities for the construction of 891 housing and accommodation protection and rehabilitation of other 975.
For the development of these proceedings, the Ministry has committed 8.84 million euros, and the Ministry of Public Works, 7.77 million euros.

Thus, Beatriz Corredor said that one of the priorities of the Central Executive is "the promotion of rehabilitation to promote the improvement of the residential neighborhoods and recover functionally require the rehabilitation of their buildings, homes and public spaces."
For his part, Minister of Public Works has indicated that, through the Housing Plan 2009-2012, have developed more than 30,000 performances in the Region, of which 16,000 have focused on rehabilitation, and highlighted the component social plans.
