The Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar has held the thirty-second anniversary of the constitution in a ceremony in which school students, the initial vocational training center, the People's University and Adult Education have expressed their vision of the Constitution.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, José García, today presided over the official ceremony by which the session commemorating the thirty-second anniversary of the Spanish Constitution.
In the event, which was carried out in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the mayor recalled the consensus reached in the drafting and adoption of the Constitution, the political forces, unions and business organizations.
The mayor has stressed the importance of the Constitution as the supreme law of the state "that allows us to live under the principle of liberty, equality, justice and political pluralism."
He recalled also the time of transition, when "Spain facing worse economic situation at present, with inflation above 40 percent, growing unemployment and foreign debt between 1973 and 1977, three times the reserves of gold and currency of the Bank of Spain. "
Garcia noted that, in this scenario, all political parties, business associations and unions were able to sign the Moncloa pacts, in which strong measures were agreed to address the economic situation facing the country.
He added that a year later, this show of consensus and responsibility was repeated with the approval of the Constitution.
Thus, he concluded that "the difficult economic situation in our country today makes it necessary to ask political representatives, business organizations, trade unions and the government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, to make the political effort that was made in transition and only think only the good of Spain. "
The event, attended by members of the municipal corporation and representatives of various associations, also participated ten students from schools in the county, the center of cualifición initial vocational Adult Education and Popular University.
The students, who have worked and studied the Constitution in class, have answered the questions: What is the Constitution for you?, Why do we need?, And what role do you think you have in today's society?
Both children and older people have agreed on the importance of the Constitution as a rule that makes all citizens equal before the law guarantees basic rights such as education or health, and provides stability to the state.
Following these readings, the event was concluded with the traditional flag-raising, which has involved the mayor, accompanied by Councillors David Grace and Visitation Marcos Martinez, while the municipal band has sung the anthem of Spain.
