The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, José García, today presided over the plenary of the Commonwealth Tourism del Mar Menor, where we proceeded to relay the presidency of this body, which next year will assume the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro .
Before the handover ceremony, the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar has noted that during 2010 have been carried out the latest investment of Promotion Plan and Excellence in Tourism, and highlighted the promotional work has been performed in this period through of a national campaign on various television channels, funded by central government.
Also pointed out that the Commonwealth, comprising the municipalities of Cartagena, San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier and Los Alcazares has also continued with the sponsorship activities of the Spanish beach soccer.
Garcia praised the consensus reached on the implementation of these activities, an agreement that marked the 20 year history of the commonwealth.
In this sense, has opted to "maintain the momentum, even in the most complicated, because the consensus is the guarantor for higher levels of quality and excellence in tourism services."
The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, has endorsed this and stated that the four municipalities must work together for the common brand of Mar Menor.
It has also ensured that, in tourism, "the triumph of a municipal project, also affects the other municipality" for what he has advocated promoting from each municipality, a quality tourism.
Finally, Barreiro acknowledged that assumes the presidency of the Commonwealth at a time of economic crisis, in which the common maxim should be "doing more with less", which requires "work hard and sharpen your wit."
The event, held in the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar, have also sought the mayors of San Javier and Los Alcazares, Pepa and Encarnación García Gil, and members of the commonwealth.
