A total of 412 people have now enrolled in courses offered by the University to the second quarter of the academic year 2010-2011, which has covered more than 50 percent of the 780 seats open for this period.
The most popular courses are those which are geared to training for employment, such as geriatrics, care dependency, care assistant or accounting as well as those related to information technology and languages.
In the academic offerings this quarter are also included courses in Occupational Health and Safety and Job Search Tools, the Hall of Elders of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, literacy and school parents, among others.
Also, the People's University has a wide variety of languages, with different levels of English, French and German as well as new technologies, with courses in Linux, web page creation, computer-aided design, advanced Internet or imaging digital.
The People's University, which was launched in 2008 and has a range of training courses over sixty year, has gained wide acceptance among pinatarenses, reaching an enrollment of more than 2,000 students in the past academic year.
