The Government of Spain invests in San Pedro del Pinatar more than 6.4 billion euros through State Funds, 2009 and 2010
The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, and the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Jose Garcia, who opened the Leisure and Recreation and the Center for Emerging Arts that have been fully funded by the State Fund Local Investment of the Government of Spain, whose investment exceeds EUR 2.8 million and created 272 jobs.
The new Leisure Centre and Leisure represents an alternative offer for the youth of San Pedro del Pinatar providing an infrastructure equipped with library, conference room consisting of a small theater room where you do viewings, a computer room with Internet access and an outdoor enclosure as an auditorium with a stage for performances of 1,200 square meters.
In addition, the Leisure and Recreation includes a café, a gym and a sports hall with 2 units of table tennis, 2 pool tables, a room consoles (Playstation, Wii), an important infrastructure that has been a Spain's government investment of 2.2 million euros and generated 225 employment contracts.
Later, they opened the Center for the Arts Emerging whose design creates 4 different areas that combine sport with art and green spaces for people.
The first of these spaces is a skatepark that has a track practicable of 520 square meters, a second space formed by emerging amoebae occupying 125 square meters and a way to create flexible spaces to exhibit art pieces.
The third space is occupied by a miniature golf course consists of seven circuits over 350 square meters, and the last space is made up of green areas that are distributed over 1750 square meters and improve the urban environment with vegetation.
This work has had a budget of 635,000 euros and generated 47 contracts.
Finally, the government delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, wanted to note that San Pedro del Pinatar has received from the Government of Spain through Funds 2009 and 2010 more than 6.4 million euros, a total of 22 projects, 19 works, and 3 of social spending such as: education action program for the development of various training programs, another program of support for dependents and a program of activities for older people that we all benefit more than 12,000 citizens.
In this sense, González Tovar noted that this is the largest investment in this county in just two years by a government, which finds the municipal commitment of President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero
A City Council's commitment to youth
For its part, the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar explained that infrastructure is born of commitment to the youth of the town to offer an alternative leisure space that allows them to develop their hobbies without having to travel to other locations.
In this sense, Garcia stressed that his government team has advocated for allocating the aid of the central executive to social and educational projects, and contribute to the economic development of the municipality, expected to improve the quality of life for residents.
The mayor stressed the importance of this center for the town, because so far "spaces for young people were reduced to nightlife, so it has welcomed" the pinatarenses able to offer a wide range of recreational activities and recreation to be developed in this area, both day and night, with workshops, contests, concerts, sports competitions, and many initiatives proposed by young people. "
After the inauguration of the center from the Department of Youth is being scheduled activities such as concerts, exhibitions, demonstrations municipal associations of graffiti, among others.
