Councillor for Sports, Jose Lorenzo Martinez, today reiterated the Council's commitment to the round of Murcia during the presentation of Team Movistar team.
The XXXI edition of the Tour of Murcia starts tomorrow from San Pedro del Pinatar, with a first stage in which more than 170 riders will travel about 180 kilometers between San Pedro del Pinatar and Alhama de Murcia, through Portman , Cartagena, Mazarron, Totana and booklets, among other municipalities.
This morning was made in the municipality Team Movistar, one of the 18 teams participating in the round Murcia, made by cyclists Imanol Erviti Konovalobas, Carlos Oyarzun, Fran Pérez, Ruben Plaza, Mauricio Soler and Kiryinka.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the director of Telefonica in Murcia, Ángel Lloret, and sporting director, Jose Luis Jaimerena, who have stressed that this team will be in major cycling competitions in the world, is the largest sports project the company.
For his part, Councillor for Sports, Jose Lorenzo Martinez, stressed the commitment of a company like Telefónica, with a large national and international, for cycling.
It also reiterated the commitment of the City Council for the Tour of Murcia, the fifth consecutive year that the municipality has chosen to spearhead the race, as well as "headquarters" of the organization, as most teams staying in San Pedro.
Finally, Martinez has invited fans to come to San Pedro to live this important race which will involve cycling greats as Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank), Carlos Sastre and Denis Menchov (Geox-TMC), Igor Antón (Euskaltel), Carlos Barredo (Rabobank), Ruben Plaza (Movistar) and Ezequiel Mosquera (Vancasoleil).
The morning round was played between Friday and Sunday 6 March.
The first stage between San Pedro del Pinatar and Alhama de Murcia is 178.7 kilometers and three third-class ports.
The race will depart at 12:00 hours in the Avenida del Puerto, opposite the hotel Lodomar.
Saturday will be played the queen stage of 183.2 kilometers, with factory output Estrella Levante and Murcia in the final Interpretation Centre Espuña after the ascent of Alto de Collado Bermejo, first class.
And the back end on Sunday with a time trial of 12.4 miles through the streets of Murcia, with a goal in the Gran Via
