The Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar has honored today as "Remarkable Women" of the municipality, the chairman of the association Kalochí Kalo Gypsy, Happiness Cortes; to the local office director of ONCE, Yolanda Hernández, the young canoeist Arantxa Gomez, Desiré entrepreneurs and Lourdes Peñalver Martínez Moreno as well as Councillor for Equality, Carmen Honrubia.
Before the delivery of these awards, the mayor, José García, read a manifesto for equality, which has opted to work from government in a more egalitarian social model, productive and efficient, which involves the dissolution of inequalities between men and women.
So, has stressed the need for progress in social and public policies that generate more social welfare and employment, reduce imbalances and promote greater social cohesion.
In this regard, he highlighted the work done in recent years, laws and plans such as the Law against Gender Violence, the Conciliation Plan or the law of equality, among other standards.
Also referred to the policies developed from local authorities, with the adoption of measures against gender violence, reconciliation of work and family life, processing aids women entrepreneurs or training programs promoted by the council's Equality .
The Commission's "Remarkable Women" in San Pedro del Pinatar born last year with the aim of recognizing the value of women in the municipality, from different fields, have fought for equal opportunities, facing many difficulties, many of them conditioned by their gender.
Thus it has been awarded to Happiness Cortés for his work as head of the association Kalochí Kalo, from which works for the training and empowerment of Roma women, as well as the dissemination of culture.
