The championship, to be held on March 26, will have charitable status and collected food for the association Dar Store, located in San Pedro del Pinatar, which operates a clothing bank and food for underprivileged families in the municipality.
The councilman of Deportes of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, Jose Lorenzo Martinez, the tournament organizer, Luis Alcazar, and the president of the association Store Dar, Richard Myron, today presented the III Open de Tenis Mar Menor, which held on Saturday March 26th at the sports center of town.
Martinez stressed the importance of this event in which "establishes a link between sport and the social" and praised this initiative takes place in a time of crisis, "when many families are experiencing serious financial problems and labor.
It has also invited the neighbors and township enterprises to come to the tournament and collaborate with this initiative made a donation to the food bank.
The event organizer, Luis Alcazar, explained that this tournament, held for the third consecutive year, comes from the relationship established through the Internet from a group of tennis fans.
Alcazar said that this year the organization has raised one step further and give to charity sporting event, so that the participants, attendees and corporate partners throughout the day to donate food for the association of Dar.
In the championship involving 16 players and the organization has received donations of 430 liters of milk from the supermarket Eroski the Dos Mares shopping mall, and the commitment of the cannery Golden Foods, which also deliver a lot of food in the tournament.
The organization also sent a letter to companies in the county, inviting them to participate in this initiative by donating non-perishable foodstuffs.
For its part, the president of the Dar Store, Richard Myron, explained that this association stems from a pinatarenses group in order to collect food and clothing for families in town going through a difficult situation.
The Giving Store, located in the Colony of Mercy Street, after the Cultural Casino, currently serves about 450 people and stakeholders can make their donations on Monday and Friday from 17:00 to 19:00 hours.
