The championship, to be held from 25 to 27 March at the Prince of Asturias Pavilion San Pedro del Pinatar, will have approximately 60 participants and it will try to break the Guinness record people pelotenado on a badminton court without the fall to the track wheel.
Councillor for Sports of San Pedro del Pinatar, Jose Lorenzo Martinez and technical director of the Sports Federation of the Physically Disabled in the region, José Reina, presented today at a press conference Adapted International Badminton Open to be held in the municipality, which will feature 12 different categories and 60 athletes competing.
Martinez stressed the importance of this competition and praised the work of the Federation in the projection of disabled sports in the region.
Also thanked the cooperation of the Badminton Club of San Pedro del Pinatar, created three years ago by English neighbors and "has helped to promote a sport hitherto unknown in the area."
For his part, King has noted that in the championship athletes participate in several European countries including UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and Holland.
Competitors and Guatemala, Israel, Hong Kong and Bangladesh.
The competition will begin on Friday, March 25, after a day of training, and is divided into 12 categories, three wheelchair, five foot, two-arm, and two of achondroplasia (dwarfism).
The official opening will be Saturday at 12:00 pm with the presentation of selected athletes and dances of different countries represented.
Also Saturday at 18:00 hours and after the competition phase will attempt to beat the Guinness record for hitting the wheel without falling to the ground, which is currently set at 113 strokes.
While the Sunday, March 27, will be held the end of all classes from 10:00 to 13:30.
Also during the weekend of the championship will be held at the hotel Thalasia of San Pedro del Pinatar the annual meeting of the directors of the International Badminton Federation and Parabádminton as Queen ahead.
In the press conference also attended by the secretary of the Federation, Juan Molina, president of the Badminton Club of San Pedro del Pinatar, Behrooz Ziaiahmadi, sports director of the City, Jose Moya, and local athlete Rebecca Rivero, third classified in the championship of Spain Parabádminton and international tournament held recently in Germany.
