A total of 14,253 citizens of San Pedro del Pinatar today can exercise their right to vote in local and regional elections, of which 13,866 are Spanish and 387 foreigners.
The latter may only vote in the municipal elections.
Following the formation of the 21 polling stations at 09:00 hours, has begun the activity in the seven polling stations will remain open until 20:00.
In these municipal elections, where the 21 elected council members who make up the Municipal Corporation, attended by six candidates: the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE), Popular Party (PP), Center Union Pinatar (UCPI), Pinatarense Democracy (IPD) Unit-Green Left (IU-Greens), Union, Progress and Democracy (UPyD).
The current mayor and candidate for reelection by the PSOE, José García Ruiz, has exercised its right to vote around 10:00 am at the Home of the Pensioner Raymond Benedict.
Garcia is expected to win today "democratic participation" and has called for a calm day and "no cheating."
