SABIC Innovative Plastics employees have undertaken a voluntary initiative to assist in cleaning and preservation of the Regional Park of Salinas de San Pedro.
For this, more than 80 people, workers, families and friends of SABIC, with the support and technical advice from the park, gathered in the sand to remove garbage or waste by more than 856 hectares of this unique space eastern coast where lie gulls, herons and pink flamingos.
With the help of rakes, gloves and bags to collect different bottles, cigarette butts and all kinds of waste, the sea or simply less aware of the fragility of the environment have left behind.
Two other groups were dedicated to the removal of alien species in the area, under the guidance and support at all times responsible for the Regional Park.
"The intent of this day was to promote among our workers, their families and friends, information and awareness activities for the development of respectful attitudes to the natural environment in our community. Emphasize the participation of younger children, who have been more active in the clean and have known it to the end of the day, "said Theo van Eldik, director of SABIC site located in La Aljorra.
Through this and other initiatives, SABIC Innovative Plastics celebrates the European Year of Volunteers, and seeks to strengthen their collaboration and commitment to the development of the region and in this case, with respect to the environment.
