The first woman to reach the city hall in San Pedro del Pinatar announced in his inaugural speech on economic activities and a strategic plan for tourism as key measures to create jobs and reduce government spending and late Hall.
Martínez Visitation today pledged to govern the city of San Pedro del Pinatar with "a great sense of responsibility and dedication to public service" during the extraordinary plenary session held today for the creation of the new Municipal Corporation, which has been elected mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar.
During his inaugural speech, he recalled that "it is the first time in the history of this town that a woman is elected mayor, precisely in the year that will mark 175 from their segregation and formation as a municipality."
"This new political stage consolidates us as a modern and egalitarian society and I want to be characterized by a form of governance based on austerity, transparency and closeness to the citizens," he added.
Furthermore, he assured that the new government team will focus on "improving the living conditions of residents of the municipality and lost time."
Therefore, "immediately starts with a set of actions in the economic sphere in order to reduce public spending and the current delinquency Hall, and a strategic tourism plan that will help solve the biggest problem the town, unemployment" he explained.
The new mayor thanked the majority support that last May 22 at the polls gave the citizens of their application and the draft People's Party government has reached out to opposition groups to contribute to a better future San Pedro del Pinatar.
The Corporation of the Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar for the 2011-2015 legislative session is composed of 12 Councillors PP, five of the socialist group, three Pinatarense Democracy (IPD) and a representative of Union Progreso y Democracia (UPyD).
Among the many attendees at the inaugural plenary session were former Finance Minister, Juan Bernal, Director General of Social Affairs, Leopoldo Navarro, former mayor and senator, Pedro Jose Perez and regional deputy Francisca Cabrera.
Visitation Martinez, a graduate in law 44, is the first woman to do with the baton of the Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar.
Previously, he held various public offices such as alderman of Finance (1999-2000), director general of the Autonomous Patrimony (2000-2005) and Popular Party spokesman in the City (2007-2011).
