The artist reinterprets Velázquez's Las Meninas to capture a critique of consumer society in a sample of 20 works that remain in San Javier until next January 5
The councilman of Culture of San Javier, Silvia Egea, and artist Carmen Casanova yesterday inaugurated the exhibition "Fe-Meninas Go Shopping" which will be exhibited at the Cultural Hall of Cajamurcia, located in the Plaza de la Constitution, until the next January 5th.
The artist explained that through the interpretation of Las Meninas by Velázquez, have led to a critique of consumer society, advertising and the canons of beauty set.
He notes that "women of this work are the depiction of the seventeenth century menina caught in her dress, silenced, who wants a leading role in society.
But it is also a woman under the dictatorship of advertising, the result of a pact language that says, resists and purchase. "
The exhibition comprises 20 paintings of varying sizes in which it has used the technique of collage and acrylic on canvas.
The councilman of Culture, highlighted the history of this Catalan based in Murcia, whose works have traveled throughout much of the Spanish territory and have won awards in various competitions at the regional level.
