The mayor of San Javier, Visitation Martinez, yesterday opened the conference "Alzheimer What to do?" Which addressed the neurodegenerative disease and the latest therapies for patient care.
In Social Services Center San Javier hosted the December 15 the technical seminar "Alzheimer What to do?" Organized by the Medical Center Mar Menor, with the cooperation of the City, the University Hospital Foundation and the Los Arcos Alzheimur .
At the conference attended by the hospital's Rosell Neurologist Luis Cabello, who explained the features of this disease and its development.
Later, physiotherapists Antolinos Celia and Pedro José Javier neuropsychologist Antolinos and Oltra explained the most advanced therapies, aimed primarily at curbing the disease development, extend the period of autonomy of patients and provide guidance to caregivers.
Medical Center Director Mar Menor, Carlos Sabatel, opened this day by the mayor of the municipality, and stressed the importance of continued progress in treatments that enhance the autonomy of patients with Alzheimer's and also give greater independence to caregivers.
For his part, Martinez said Visitation in San Javier there are approximately 160 people suffering from this disease, which highlighted the importance of initiatives like this, aimed at improving the quality of life of patients and their environment.
Martinez recalled that the disease progressively mine memory and greater autonomy, but also affects the environment directly, since they are usually close family members who dedicate their lives to caring for those affected.
Therefore, said that since the City of San Javier will support any initiative to help a segment of the population as sensitive as the elderly.
