The mayor of San Javier, Visitation Martinez and Councilwoman Equality, Guadalupe Garcia, today presided over the act of the International Day of Working Women.

The City of San Javier today celebrated International Day of Working Women with an official ceremony in which the mayor has expressed the official manifesto and have been awarded the prizes of the first photo contest "With M & Women".

The winning photo, and video programming lineup Women's Day, was "Seamstress for love," Bibiana Torres Martinez, while the second prize was awarded to the photograph "Start Over" by Josefa López Hernández .

During the event, the councilor for Women and Equality, Guadalupe Garcia, has stated that from this council are to develop initiatives throughout the year to promote real equality between men and women within the municipality.

For its part, the Mayor remarked that thanks to the many women struggle to defend their rights, equality "is now at our fingertips," but stressed the need to move forward with "tenacity and perseverance" , to consolidate the path walked by all those who were victims of a society that relegated to the background and why you still suffer discriminatory treatment by her womanhood.

The ceremony was also attended by officials of the Sports Center San Pedro, and the restaurant Aqualia Carpathia, Contest Sponsors "With M & Women".

In addition to this act, all day long there were several different activities as a solidarity march for the rights of women, which has started the building of Social Services, and a table for development in the Plaza de la Constitucion where program participants " Between Us "has sold crafts, whose profits will go to a local NGO.

The events of today will end with a conference of Women Entrepreneurs, from 20:00 in the Social Services Centre, organized by the Organization of Murcia Business and Professional Women of the Region of Murcia (OMEP), in which addressed various issues such as business creation, training or access to new technologies.

These sessions aim to promote entrepreneurship and employment promotion in San Javier, contributing to equality between women and men in organizational and corporate.
