Civil groups and their activities at European level, and the labor market situation of youth in the Region of Murcia, have focused today the V Conference on Citizenship of San Javier
The mayor of San Javier, Martinez Visitation, today opened the V Conference on Citizenship, held on 4 and 5 May in the center of Social Services and San Javier, which this year are headed "The responses of public participation to the global needs."
During his speech, the mayor explained that these days try to offer an open forum on local policies, while increasing the chances of participation and influence of citizens in local government.
It has also highlighted, among the objectives of this conference, offer new channels of participation by the citizens' initiative, enhance the role of participation councils, to highlight the research of Economic and Social Council of Murcia, enhancing the role of Home City Council Social, promote awareness of the 138 associations in the municipality and the development of good practices.
The mayor stressed the importance of the issues that address the papers of this conference, such as the European citizens' initiative and the labor market in the region.
It also recalled that the day on Saturday will have a more practical workshops to improve and enhance the operation of associations, and a table which will present good practices of local projects on the environment, humanitarian aid, integration cultural and intergenerational.
For his part, Councillor for Citizen Participation, Silvia Egea, highlighted the history of the Carmen Sandoval in local and regional as well as its experience in managing European projects and stressed the importance of the European Citizens' Initiative, a new tool of participatory democracy that came into force last April.
The director general of the EU has explained the rationale and procedure of the European Citizens' Initiative, a new tool of participatory democracy adopted last April 1 and offers the possibility for citizens of member countries to submit a legislative proposal European Commission.
Sandoval explained that already in 2011 took place in the autonomous region a pilot project to promote among youth the citizens' initiative and stressed that this tool extends the sphere of public debate, while allowing a more active life democratic EU.
The day concluded with the presentation of the study by the Economic and Social Council of the Region of Murcia on "The youth labor market in the Region of Murcia", by the Head of economic department CES, Miguel Martin, and author of the study and professor in the Department of Foundations of Economic Analysis of the UMU, Jesus Hernandez.
This paper analyzes the labor structure of the region and youth unemployment, from a rigorous scientific and allows for possible strategies and courses of action to address this problem.
