The City of San Javier has launched local voluntary plan, which includes various action programs aimed at fostering solidarity, intergenerational relations, environmental protection, civics and culture
The mayor of San Javier, Visitation Martinez and Councilman Volunteering, Álvaro Tárraga, presented today at a press conference the local volunteer program, which begins this month and through which various actions will develop social and civic in the municipality.
Under the slogan "Discover the best in you, become voluntary" This project aims to develop and coordinate solidarity and altruistic actions that help create a better society by strengthening citizen participation and strengthen the involvement of people committed to the town, has indicated Mayor.
Visitation Martinez explained that this is a cross-cutting program, coordinated by the Department of volunteering, but in which other departments have been actively involved as the environment, education, culture and civic participation.
It also noted that the development of this project we have taken into account the suggestions and demands of groups and individuals gathered through care services to citizens of the City.
The result, as noted by the mayor, has been a program was divided into two strands, one to volunteer in social and other programs including civic volunteer.
In this regard, Volunteer Councilman commented that, through voluntary social program will be coordinated actions aimed primarily at helping elderly and dependent, with small actions like accompany a walk, read a newspaper or simply keeping them company.
As for social volunteering, this is structured in four public awareness programs in different areas.
These are "Respect your neighborhood and your beach", through behaviors that promote civic and environmentally friendly, "Volunteering in parks and gardens", which aims to promote environmental stewardship, "Storytelling" to strengthen intergenerational relations, and "Volunteers for reading and culture", including several performances at libraries and reading rooms municipal.
The voluntary plan will begin with a phase of information and feedback during the month of September, which will include meetings with representatives of associations of the municipality, germ citizen collaboration.
Then the volunteers will receive a general training course on volunteerism and a more specific on the line to adhere.
Once this period is initiated various programs included in the voluntary plan.
This plan also includes benefits for volunteers as discounts on shows and activities promoted by the city and getting free credits for students at the University of Murcia, since, in a few dates, the City will enter into a collaboration agreement with this educational institution.
