The municipality of San Javier has brought forward a motion in the plenary yesterday afternoon to encourage the municipality installed in supermarkets to donate food to local associations that handle distribution to families who are hardest being hit by the crisis.

Through this motion the City Council agrees to campaign with supermarkets in the municipality to increase food donations to charities and sign agreements with the producers or distributors of food upon request.
In return, the council will publish on its website the list of contributors and associations involved in the campaign and create a distinctive "Corporate Sponsor" which may expose trade partner to inform their customers.
The purpose of the motion is to use the large amount of food that supermarkets throw away because it is near its expiration date or discarded because producers do not look optimal.
