The Association of Patients with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Township, ASENFIFA Pinatar, has installed an information table in the Constitution Square to raise awareness of this disease and seek a continuation of research in this area.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar Visitation Martinez and the Councillor for Citizen Participation, Silvia Egea, this morning visited the information booth installed by ASENFIFA in Constitution Square to mark the World Day for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue which falls on May 12.
ASENFIFA installed Sunday, May 12, this awareness table in the courtyard of Lo Pagan, and today continued the activity in the Plaza of the Constitution.
The president of ASENFIFA, Ana Maria Albaladejo, has indicated that the purpose of this activity is to show the work done by the association in the municipality and report symptoms and characteristics of the disease and ask them to continue the investigations order to determine their origin, such as the one being carried out at the hospital Virgen de La Arrixaca of Murcia.
Albaladejo has highlighted the difficulty of obtaining a diagnosis in those affected by fibromyalgia, and explained that the main symptoms are pain and stiffness in the muscles, fatigue, depression or sleep disorders.
In this regard, he noted that these symptoms hinder daily activity of patients without, for the moment there is a specific treatment beyond palliative treatment of pain.
In this regard indicated that, for years, the associates are a medical program in the Thalassotherapy Center in San Pedro del Pinatar with very positive results.
The mayor praised the work and initiative of this association, mainly to report on this disease, largely unknown to most people, and reiterated the support of the City in all actions developed in the municipality.
