UNITED The project, promoted by the municipalities of San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcazares meet from 5 to August 13 to 35 young people to analyze and prevent cyberbullying through the European Youth in Action program
The mayors of San Javier, Juan Martinez, San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez and Los Alcazares, Anastasio Bastida, accompanied by the mayors of the three municipalities Youth marmenorenses, Estibaliz Masegosa, Angela Gaona and Francisco Mendez, respectively, presented today the joint project "UNITED: We are connecter for a better future", funded by the European Commission through the Youth in Action program.
The mayor of San Javier has indicated that this European youth exchange, aimed at young people between 14 and 18 years, aims to promote safe and responsible use of the Internet and social networks.
It also noted that the project, sponsored jointly by the three municipalities marmenorenses through youth correspondents, has been funded with 17,500 euros by the European Commission through the Youth in Action program.
The mayor of San Javier Youth, Estibaliz Masegosa explained that this project arose from a proposal by youth correspondents who develop various activities locally and serve as a link between management information and youth from institutes of their respective municipalities .
The exchange, which has Spain as host country, host to 35 young, 16 municipalities in the Mar Menor, 8 Sweden, 8 from Italy, and three monitors, staying in the Youth Hostel Valley from 5 to 13 August.
Thus, besides youth correspondents participate Swedish youth center users Solna Youth Center, and Associazione EINE, of the Italian city of Veneto.
Municipalities conference organizers to develop various proposals, including specific workshops on Internet safety, social networking and cyberbullying, as well as recreational activities such as Ferry ride, games, activities on the beach and hiking in the area of ​​the Mar Menor.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar has highlighted the importance of this project in the topic it addresses, as cyberbullying has become in recent years a social problem that young people should identify, prevent, besides having the necessary tools to know how and when to act to eradicate it.
Finally, the mayor of Los Alcazares, Anastasio Bastida, has affected the tourism dimension of this initiative, which will raise awareness for the area to Swedish and Italian participants, and noted that the project also promotes knowledge of other cultures and the interaction between young people from different countries.
