The Full Council of San Pedro del Pinatar today unanimously approved the Action Plan for Sustainable Energy (PAES), which includes 52 measures to reduce by 20% CO2 emissions to the atmosphere before 2020 and is part in the European initiative known as "Covenant of Mayors".
This particular plan a series of measures to make up to 2020 in all key sectors of activity such as the tertiary sector, residential, private transport, municipal fleet, streetlights and buildings, equipment and municipal facilities.
This document is a step in the fulfillment of the "Covenant of Mayors", a European initiative on energy saving and efficiency at which the consistory pinatarense joined in 2010.
Thus, this plan includes an emissions inventory and a set of actions in the energy sector aimed at adapting the structures of the municipality and raise public awareness pinatarenses.
The mayor noted that the Action Plan is just the starting point for reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, as well as delving into the bills saving energy costs by improving the efficiency of municipal buildings and private sector reducing unnecessary consumption and saving fossil fuels for transport and heating systems.
It also includes measures to expand the use of renewable and clean energy in town, all in favor of improving the environment and reducing energy dependency.
