The City of San Pedro del Pinatar has allocated 20,000 euros to humanitarian aid associations, among other things, assist with the distribution of food to needy families in the municipality.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez and the Councillor for Citizen Participation, Silvia Egea, today visited the headquarters of associations Parish Caritas, Red Cross Lower North Sea and Love for Love, recipient of the "shopping basket solidarity ".
Through this program, the City has allocated a total of 20,000 euros to these three associations in order to complement the products they receive from food banks Cartagena and Murcia, with the goal of providing the needy a diet more healthy diet that includes protein, vegetables, fruits and vitamins.

Visitation Martinez has said the goal is to support and complement the work done by local associations working as distributors of the food bank, through coordination and cooperation between government and social partners, improve comprehensive care to the most needy the municipality.
The president of Caritas parish Antonio Tárraga, explained that this association, which assists more than 500 people, 6,000 euros earmarked for this project to complete the food to be given to the neediest families with products such as oil, sugar, tuna or tomato.
This association has 15 volunteers who weekly attend dozens of users with the distribution of food and clothing, and other assistance.
For his part, the president of Red Cross North Mar Menor, Fernando Carrasco, has indicated that the association will use the 7,000 euros collected in this project to provide a balanced breakfast for children 50 pinatarenses families who are at high risk of social exclusion .
This association has over 20 years experience in the distribution of food staples and currently has a dozen volunteers working in this field.
Finally, the president of Love for Love, José Jaén, explained that this young local association currently serves about 300 families.

So, Love for Love allocates 7,000 euros collected through the project "Shopping Cart solidarity" to supplement the food bank products with other perishable like eggs, vegetables, potatoes, meat or fish.
