The Public Library of San Pedro del Pinatar has received the award for known Maria Moliner project to encourage reading entitled "The Library of San Pedro del Pinatar, where fairytales and fantasy queen live."
This award is for the XV edition of the Campaign Reading Promotion Maria Moliner, created by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, through the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces ( FEMP) and Coca-Cola Juan Manuel Sainz de Vicuña Foundation, in order to encourage the implementation of projects to encourage reading in municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants.
The prize is an electronic book and a set of books consisting of 200 titles.
The library has been honored with this award 14 times, bringing the library collection managed by this concept to 2,800 titles and 4 ebooks.
The announcement of this year, was to reward those municipalities that libraries had undertaken a comprehensive project to be mindful actions to encourage reading for children and youth, and library work efficiency as well as social integration.
Experience over the years has shown that the Public Library of San Pedro del Pinatar plays an important role as social and cultural center not only educational but that work should continue on the task of encouraging reading, done that has been recognized by the award of Maria Moliner.
