The Ministry of Education, Universities and Employment is studying the development and enhance the cycles of vocational training in the Maritime and Fisheries family to meet the training needs of the sector and attract skilled employment.
The Minister of Education, Universities and Employment, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitacion Martinez, met today with representatives of the Federation of Aquaculture in the region to analyze the employment and training needs of the sector and possibility of expanding the positions offered in different cycles, as well as the future implementation of the Dual FP in collaboration with companies in the Industrial Aquaculture San Pedro de Pinatar.
"The work of aquaculture enterprises with the Community, in particular with the Ministry of Agriculture, our region has become one of the first autonomous in this production," said Sanchez, adding that "aquaculture facilities employ more than 350 workers and generate 1,500 indirect jobs, having a great opportunity to create jobs and wealth, so we should promote training in Maritime and Fishing family within our strategy of smart specialization of Vocational Training ".
The aquaculture sector in the region is intensive in technology and research, qualified in most of its processes, which, along with experience, required by companies, making the implementation of the Dual FP staff is studied.
Also in the working meeting was addressed also intensify the relationship between the public sector and universities in the region to increase their quality standards.
Today, in the Secondary School Tárraga Manuel Escribano San Pedro del Pinatar Cycle Intermediate FP Fish Farming Operations, with 45 students, and the Senior Cycle FP Aquaculture Production, 55 is implanted.
