The Department of Education has organized a series of lectures for students in fifth grade on Ancient Rome and the archaeological heritage of the municipality
School fifth graders from Maspalomas, Hopes, and Villa San Pedro Apostle Alegría schools, know this quarter Roman civilization, its historical importance to the city and how it was children in this age.
Archaeologist Alfredo Porrúa gives this series of talks organized by the Department of Education, and in which different aspects of Roman society are addressed as birth, the imposition of the name, children's games, stories about gods and myths, education or start to work.
This is an interactive presentation, 50 minutes, in which students are actively involved in the topics, choosing your own Roman name and staging some moments of life of children in this age.
During the talk also includes a brief idea about the archaeological heritage of the town, with references to the towns of La Raya and The Salt, found in the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar.
Among other works, Alfredo Porrúa directed the excavations of La Raya and The Salt and currently is a PhD candidate at the University of Murcia in line Immense Pallus: Roman rural settlement and transformation of the environment in the vicinity of the Mar Menor.
Besides this activity, Education scheduled for the second quarter and talks about La Sal pinatarense Holy Week, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism.
