The Social Services Center hosted the presentation of the Action Plan for Sustainable Energy (PAES) of San Pedro del Pinatar which aims to reduce 20% of CO2 emissions by 2020

Councilman Industry San Pedro del Pinatar, José Guillermo García, and attached to the Directorate of the Institute for the Promotion of the Region of Murcia, Victoria E. Gómez, today inaugurated the day of presentation of the Action Plan for Sustainable Energy ( PAES) Township.

Councilman Industry highlighted the necessary involvement of all governments, local, regional, state and community in the preservation of the environment, the promotion of clean and sustainable energy, and reducing emissions.

In this regard, he added that the city of San Pedro del Pinatar acquired an explicit commitment by signing in 2010 the Covenant of Mayors of the European Union, under which it undertook to reduce at least 20% emissions CO2 for 2020, which has produced a map of emissions and PAES presented at this conference.

Also, has stressed the importance of citizen participation to design a municipal strategy for achieving the targets set for 2020 by the Covenant of Mayors.

For his part, the Deputy Director INFO noted that since this institution projects that aim to channel aid to municipalities to put in place policies to develop energy savings.

The day continued with a presentation by Rafael Ataz, Head of Unit of the European Programmes and Projects Info, which has exposed the ELENA project, whereby the European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a subsidy of 1,590,992 euros Gig energy improvement in the Region of Murcia.

The technician Environment of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, Eva María Pagán, presented the local PAES and upcoming performances that made this administration in the field of sustainable energy, such as improved street lighting, lighting optimization or sensitization and awareness actions.
