The Volunteer Department, in collaboration with the Service to Diversity and Volunteerism at the University of Murcia, develops programs for students who wish to support youth leisure activities, education and social integration
The Plan local volunteer municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar, includes among its various lines of action, the university volunteer, in coordination with the University of Murcia.
Some of the volunteers who participated in this program are Lorena González, a student of Mathematics, University of Murcia, and Jonah Lynch, biology student at the University of California, have worked with local organizations working in areas such as support for childhood, sociocultural animation, and the prevention of social exclusion.
So, Lorena González has worked with the Federation of Roma Associations (FAGA) in the development of a workshop support and tutoring aimed at twenty Roma children 7 to 12 years, which included hours of study and tutoring, dissemination of Romany Gypsy culture and language as well as leisure and recreational activities.
Meanwhile, Jonah Lynch has developed his volunteer work with Mikaseda association during the summer has coordinated a toy library at the Center for Emerging Architecture Arts, which was also attended by around 20 children, and has included activities entertainment, theater, educational games, crafts, field trips, etc.
For this program offers volunteers the opportunity to apply many of the content received in university classrooms and strengthen their vocation as educators and future teachers.
Same hours they do in their voluntary action, thanks to an agreement that the Department maintains volunteer with the University of Murcia, can be validated by free credits in college.
The Department of volunteering is already drawing new lines of action for the third local volunteer Plan, committed to involving young people and working with the growing municipal associations.
