The Department of Social Services this month offered the workshop "Learn Spanish", for twenty immigrant women and focuses on providing the basic tools for the students to communicate in common situations and scenarios as the supermarket, school or doctor's office.
The goal is to foster integration through language of the immigrant population, and they get more autonomy in their daily lives.
In addition to learning vocabulary for everyday, another objective of the workshop is to convey what the students learned to people who are part of their environment.
The program consists of seven sessions, including thematic units such as family, clock hours, visiting the doctor, days of the week, stocks, adverbs and opposite, or how the town where I live is, among others.
This workshop, which began last Friday, October 10 and ends on November 21, is taught by Pilar Martínez Invernón psychologist, and mediator-translator Benlarhzal Riad Amina.
