The City of San Pedro del Pinatar has allocated 20,000 euros for the second consecutive year, humanitarian associations, among other things, assist with the distribution of food to needy families in the municipality

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitacion Martinez, and the Councillor for Citizen Participation, Silvia Egea, have today presented the framework of the program "Shopping Cart solidarity" associations Parish Caritas, Red Cross Lower North Sea and Love for Love whose projects have opted to aid.

Through this program, explained the mayor, the City Council has allocated a total of € 20,000 to three organizations in order to complement the products they receive from food banks Cartagena and Murcia, with foods like fruits, vegetables, meat and fish or dairy.

Visitation Martinez said that the aim is to support and complement the work done by local associations working as distributors of food bank for the region, through the coordination and cooperation between government and social partners, improve the comprehensive care neediest people in the township.

The president of the Mar Menor North Red Cross, Fernando Carrasco, has indicated that the association will use the 6,666 euros collected in this project to provide a balanced breakfast or lunch for children who are at risk of social exclusion.

President of Love for Love, Armando Jaén, said that this partnership will allocate EUR 6,666 for the purchase of perishable products to deliver to the beneficiary families food bank serving this association and thus provide a more complete menu.

The same fate will have the provision to Caritas Parish.

The president of the association thanked the municipal initiative and donations and support that the association receives from the citizens of San Pedro del Pinatar.

The ultimate goal of this program, developed by the Department of Citizenship, is that associations pinatarenses provide to families at risk of social exclusion a complete and healthy diet.
