A total of 350 students from schools and colleges in San Pedro del Pinatar visited last November 24 the research vessel Ramon Margalef, belonging to the fleet of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO), in the port of Cartagena.
This visit, coordinated by the IEO in Murcia Center, is part of the commemoration of the centenary of this institution.
During the tour, students of institutes and Manuel Dos Mares Tárraga Escribano, and schools The Antolinos, Maspalomas, San Pedro Apostle and Los Pinos, toured the rooms of this vessel of 46 meters in length which features the latest technology to study marine geology, physical and chemical oceanography, marine biology, fisheries and environmental control.
They also visited the exhibition Centennial IEO which houses the Naval Museum of the port city.
This activity is part of the actions from the center of Murcia become the centenary and also include, on 2 and 3 December a scientific conference on the Mar Menor.
