The Municipal Emergency Service serves over 7,300 calls in 2014 (02/02/2015)

The third quarter was the highest number recorded message, which focused on the weekends, Saturday and Sunday being the day with more calls answered.

The Emergency Service and Civil Protection of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar attended in 2014 a total of 7,303 calls and conducted a total of 8,372 performances.

The third quarter, coinciding with the summer period, again the produces the highest number of calls, with a total of 2,921.

For days, most of the ads were in weekend with 1,229 calls answered on Sunday and 1,138 on Saturdays.

In terms of total incidents attended, 3,840 were related to public safety, emergency sanitary 1,632 and 1,424 traffic.

Related to maritime rescue and civil protection (580), firefighting and rescue (317), municipal towing service (319) and other municipal services (260) notices were also received.

The balance of the Special Plan surveillance Beaches and fight against Marine Pollution (COPLA) scored from 1 July to 15 September a total of 2,851 assists, most of them on the beaches of Mar Menor.

The work of the group of Civil Protection Volunteers and their coordination is also one of the main functions of this municipal service.

Thus, during 2014 a total of 91 preventive actions, professionals and volunteers, sporting events, parties of interest, cultural events, social and religious, were coordinated etc.

Training is another pillar of Service Emergencies and last year a total of 23 training activities with 444 students, most notably the formation of students training modules technician health emergencies, training teachers were conducted in first aid course tourism quality, plus workshops and initial healthcare, PRL, first aid, etc.

Councilman Civil Protection, Pedro Luis Vera, highlighted the good performance of this Municipal Emergency Service and the important social work carried out throughout the year, attending public demand on issues as important as safety, health emergencies, rescue on beaches or traffic.

The mayor thanked the dedication of volunteers and trainees and pointed out that the implementation of the new security center, where the services of Police, Civil Defence and Emergency integrate, optimize and improve the functions of SEM in both citizen services and emergency services, and volunteer coordination actions and training.
