The City of San Pedro del Pinatar today commemorated International Women's Day with reading the official manifesto, headed by the mayor, and the inauguration of the photo exhibition "With M Women"
The hall of the Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar has welcomed today the act of the International Women's Day, in which the mayor intervened, Visitation Martinez and Equal Councilwoman Guadalupe Garcia.
The mayor has read the official manifesto, focusing on the challenges made since the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995 and the Declaration and Platform for Action of the Rights of Women emerged.
It has also highlighted the goals need to be achieved: "reducing the wage gap, which in our country is around 25 percent, the obstacles to their full professional development, unequal participation in the nuclei of political decision and economic and less visible in other areas of life such as science, culture and sport, today remain significant problems we face. "
For his part, Councillor for Equality, Guadalupe Garcia, highlighted the work being done at the local level.
"We are and will continue working on actions that include all women and we want to be the ones that help us achieve our goal, which is none other than work for, freer, ultimately more egalitarian more just society," he said .
During the event also presented the awards to the winners of the fourth edition of the photography contest "With M Women" and has opened the exhibition with all the images presented to it.
The first prize of 200 euros, went to Natalia de la Rubia, with photography "Equality", which has become the poster image of the events planned to mark the March 8th.
The photograph "Not long," Jose Lara, won the second prize of one night's hotel and spa in a local hotel circuit.
The activities to commemorate International Women's Day will continue this Sunday, March 8, with the holding of the Third Conference on Women and Sport, to the benefit of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, from 09:30 hours in the Sea Park Lo Pagan, along the esplanade.
