Those responsible for this infrastructure, aimed at mitigating the damage caused by torrential rains in Lo Pagan, explained the benefits it will have on the area, its peculiarities and work plan
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, project director of urban drainage and storm tank in Lo Pagan, Carmen Sandoval, and the contractor responsible for the work, Ferrovial, held a meeting with residents and entrepreneurs area to explain the specifics and timing of execution of the work.
This work, which includes a network of urban drainage and storm tank located on the esplanade will begin on April 16 and is scheduled to end on December 15, although work will stop during the months of July and August to cause the least effect possible in traffic, tourism and local commerce during the high season.
Visitation Martinez stressed the importance of this work to mitigate the damage that heavy rains cause in the town, such as flooding of roads, deteriorating urban furniture or discharges to sea.
The mayor also said that this work is the first phase of a more ambitious project, consisting of several facilities in different areas of the municipality to address comprehensively the problem of floods of rainwater.
Through this work, the drainage system collects water 20 minutes early rain and moved to the storm tank with a capacity of 3300 liters, where water is pumped to the treatment plant.
Carmen Sandoval explained that the work cofinancida by the Autonomous Community and the European Union will include the construction of four branches drainage pathways affect the Generalissimo Avenue, Avenue Salzillo, Street Asturias, Rosendo Alcaraz Street and Calle Campoamor.
During the work most streets have allowed circulation, except Campoamor street that is partially cut, with Isaac Peral street detour from September 1 to December 15.
The mayor stressed the importance of this work, which will help alleviate the problems facing the town when torrential rains occur and stressed that the project and the work plan has been adapted to the particularities of the area, starting the work after Easter and stopping in the summer months.
The meeting other aspects such as the relocation of the fair and the weekly market, which may continue their activities at another site during the months of execution of the work are also discussed.
