The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Adela Martinez-Cache, today held a meeting with representatives of regional aquaculture Aquaculture Station in San Pedro del Pinatar to "jointly study possible ways that increase the operability of the sector and address the constraints can you find these professionals in developing their business, "he said.

The counselor and industry representatives discussed the National Aquaculture Strategic Plan that was approved in the last sector conference in Madrid Fisheries, financial implementation of the new European Fisheries Fund and also discussed the upcoming schedule of actions to be developed under European Maritime Fisheries 2014-2020.
As for the annual data of agricultural production, the minister stressed that aquaculture production in 2014 increased significantly over the previous year, reaching 11,366 tonnes worth around 78 million euros.
The owner of Agriculture and Water explained that "the most productive aquaculture species in the region are, in this order, bass, bluefin tuna, sea bream and sea bass."
Highlighted the research project baby octopus in captivity, which he said "shows the great potential of the aquaculture sector."
Martinez-Cache added that the research centers of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water "must continue to enrich the industry with technology transfer in order to remain world leader".
