The City is working with the University of Murcia in the study of tiger mosquito populations (03/06/2015)

The City of San Javier, through concessionaire Pest Control Service has collaborated with the University of Murcia in the study "Detection and monitoring of the populations of the tiger mosquito", by following a network of sampling points.

In the network positioned in San Pedro del Pinatar in 2014 nine positive samples were detected in the 69 tiger mosquito samples taken, distributing these positive from mid-July to late October.

The current Pest Control Service performs preventive treatments against mosquito species present in the area, Culex, Aedes chironomids and includes species (tiger mosquito) before his possible arrival.

Treatments are carried out from March to November, with larvicides encharcables products in all areas, parks and municipal gardens and perimeter channel Salinas, including adulticide treatments when necessary.

For significant declines in populations of mosquitos when the community should be warned, informed and involved in their control, since most farms larvae occur in private areas located in urban environments, where only the owners can exercise measures control, eliminating any type of container that can hold stagnant water to prevent mosquitoes can lay their eggs and breed.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES
