The windmills of Quentin and hosiery are in the Regional Park of Salinas and Arenales of San Pedro del Pinatar (within the marine-terrestrial domain) and its particularity is more in use in architectural differences that may exist with the flour or water mills.
According to experts, the first salt farms in the area date back to Phoenician times, though it is from the fourteenth century when the pond is abandoned as a fishing spot for conversion into salt.
These two mills were built in the first third of the twentieth century, thanks to the wind, transferring water from the Mar Menor to storage ponds in which evaporated leaving free salt, and were in use until the early seventies of last century, date in which electric pumps were installed.
