The Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the Cluster Foundation has organized the Scientific Meeting "State of the Science of Mar Menor 'in order to put together the most important research done in this area, facing new challenges posed by the Water Framework Directive to achieve, by 2015, the ecological status of waters of the lagoon.
The constitution of the working group will take place tomorrow at 10:00 am in the Plenary Hall of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, and will be assisted by the secretary general of the Ministry, Francisco Moreno, general director of Heritage Nature and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernández, as well as researchers and scientists from the University of Murcia, Cartagena Polytechnic University, Centre for Soil and Applied Biology Segura (CEBAS-CSIC), Murcia Oceanographic Centre, Geological Survey of Spain and Murciano Research Institute and Agricultural Development and Food (IMIDA).
Following the establishment of the working group will proceed to the preparation of reports by various researchers and scientists, on existing knowledge, analysis of needs and research priorities.
Subsequently develop a comprehensive, integrated document covering all work performed.
The Euro-Mediterranean Water Institute Foundation is responsible for scientific coordination of this day and shall, also, the final document with the result of aggregation and systematization of the contributions of all participants.
