The Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the General Directorate of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, performed from July 23 an information campaign on the benefits of oceanic Posidonia funds reports to the Region coastline and beaches, and on the therapeutic properties of mud baths in the salt ponds, led visitors to the Regional Park of Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar.

The director general of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernandez, said about the Park has six miles of beaches, "which makes the number of daily visitors go from 300 to 15,000 during the summer months."
The campaign goal is to "create a positive attitude and make people participate in the preservation of this unique area has 856 hectares, mostly occupied by wetlands of high natural value," said the CEO.
Fernandez said that the Posidonia oceanica is the most important ecosystem of the Mediterranean Sea, comparable in complexity and maturity to terrestrial forests, "so the areas where it is present have been included among the Sites of Community Importance and the Natura 2000 network ".
