Has cost 1.2 million euros financed by the Municipality of San Pedro, the Government of Spain and the Commonwealth Tourism Mar Menor
The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, has participated this morning at the opening of the Centre for Tourism Initiatives in San Pedro del Pinatar.
The event also participated the Mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, José María García, and the President of the Commonwealth Tourism Mar Menor, the Mayor of San Javier, Josefa García.
The Centre for Tourist Initiatives is an action which has been funded through the "Plan for Excellence del Mar Menor."
Tovar Gonzalez recalled that the Plan has invested a total of 2,850,000 euros, which were distributed in actions carried out between the four municipalities of the Mar Menor, Cartagena, Los Alcazares, San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, and various performances aimed at improving the quality of services it offers tourist destination.
The delegate stressed that the new Centre for Tourist Initiatives has had a cost of 1,200,000 euros and improve the quality of services offered to residents and tourists, not just the city of San Pedro del Pinatar but the Mar Menor in whole.
This is a modern building with innovative design and aesthetics perfectly integrated into the environment, simulating the famous mountains of salt, typical of the Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar, reinforce the firm commitment that both the Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, the region and the Commonwealth, with the municipalities of Cartagena, San Javier, Los Alcazares and San Pedro del Pinatar, being made to distinguish this tourist destination "Mar Menor" with a reference to National and international level of quality.
The funding was awarded to the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, with 750,000 euros and the Government of Spain, Mar Menor and Commonwealth Tourism Autonomous Region € 150,000 each.
Tovar Gonzalez stressed that the Plan is a good example of the tourism model that the Government of Spain is implementing.
"On one hand, explained the delegate-seeking the involvement of all levels of government, central, regional and local levels and on the other, respecting and enhancing the natural and cultural riches of this wonderful area of our region."
Main activities carried Excellence Plan del Mar Menor
The actions taken included the construction of two bike lanes in San Javier and Los Alcazares, with a total length of 16 km and a cost of 850,000 euros, the enhancement of public spaces and the construction of a Nautical School Sports in Cartagena, amounting to 450,000 euros, the implementation of the Quality System Tourist Destinations in 26 companies in the area, and other measures to promote the destination with a cost of 50,000 euros.
All these actions have had a budget of 2.5 billion euros and were financed through the agreement between the Government of Spain, with 600,000 euros, the Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar, 750,000 euros, the Commonwealth Tourism Mar Menor, 600,000 euros , and the Ministry of Tourism, 600,000 euros.
In addition, the Government of Spain contributes 300,000 euros other additional promotional campaign in 2010 of the actions executed.
